Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time. The model represents the system itself, whereas the simulation represents the operation of the system over time. In which theories of warfare can be tested and refined without the need for actual hostilities.
IED (improvised explosive device) is a homemade device that is designed to cause death or injury by using explosives alone or in combination with certain toxic chemicals, biological toxins or radiological materials. IEDs can utilize commercial or military explosives, homemade explosives or military weapon and ammunition components. IEDs may be used in terrorist actions or in unconventional warfare (for example, by commando forces) operations.
IEDs share a common set of components and consist of the following:
- • A switch/trigger;
- • An initiator (fuse);
- • Main charge (explosive fill);
- • A power source (Battery) for the switch/trigger
- • A container
- • Explosives
- • Detonator
